Vimla’s inspirational teaching style touches on the deeper spiritual essence of yoga. Her light shines brightly on all her students, no matter what their level of practice. Vimla encourages students to follow their own yogic journey and leads by example with her beautiful poses, devotional practice, and chanting.
Vimla and her twin sister Vindra were both practicing dentists in the early 1990’s. In 1993, Vimla was diagnosed with sciatica and was referred to an Iyengar yoga teacher. At her first session, she experienced immediate relief from the pain, and thus her yoga journey began. Vindra, as well as their mother Dhanmati, and their father, Motilal, followed suit soon after.

The sisters were first certified in 2000 as CIYT (Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher). Vimla is currently a Level 3 CIYT and Vindra is a Level 2 CIYT.
The parents, despite the fact that they started yoga at the age of 68, dedicated the rest of their lives to yoga practice. They embodied the spirit of Guruji, B.K.S. lyengar’s quote:
“Live fully and die majestically.“
